EMRE PALTA

I am an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, where I also serve as Vice Chair of the department.

I received my M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My research is rooted in solid mechanics, with a particular interest in how materials and structures behave under extreme loading. Much of my work has focused on understanding the physical mechanisms that govern structural response, especially under impact. Over time, this interest has expanded from studying how existing structures behave to investigating how their behavior can be controlled through design. Today, my research focuses on impact mechanics and architected materials, motivated by the possibility of developing lighter and safer structures through a deeper understanding of mechanics.

I teach courses in mechanics and numerical methods, including Statics, Dynamics, Numerical Methods, Advanced Strength of Materials, and Senior Project. I also supervise undergraduate and graduate students working on computational and experimental mechanics projects.
